Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-10-20 Version: 1.13
These terms are the agreement between you and MB Energijos Ekspertai for the use of the Walteris app and service. They also serve as the end user licence agreement for the iOS app. Please read section 10 (savings estimates), section 11 (when charging does not go to plan) and section 15 (liability) in particular — they set out what Walteris does and does not promise.
1. Who we are
Walteris is provided by MB Energijos Ekspertai, company code 307141622, registered at Eduardo Andrė g. 14-5, LT-02232 Vilnius, Lithuania (“we”, “us”). VAT code LT100017885218. Contact: hello@walteris.com.
“Walteris” is a trade name of MB Energijos Ekspertai. The company, not the product, is the party you contract with under these terms.
2. Agreement to these terms
By creating an account or using the app you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use Walteris. You must be at least 18 and able to enter into a contract; you confirm this when you create your account. We record which version of these terms you accepted, and when.
Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under EU law. Where a term here conflicts with a right you have by law, the law wins.
3. What Walteris does
Walteris schedules the charging of your electric vehicle, your home battery, or both, into the cheapest hours, using day-ahead electricity market prices and, optionally, a forecast of your own solar generation. It works out a plan and then sends start, stop and charging-rate commands to the device through the manufacturer’s official interface — your vehicle manufacturer’s for a car, the inverter manufacturer’s for a home battery.
Where we have got to today. An account manages one car, chosen when you link it. Home-battery support is being rolled out, and which inverters are supported changes as we add them — the app tells you whether yours is among them before you connect it.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own private, non-commercial use.
4. What you need for Walteris to be worth anything
Walteris can only reduce your bill if there is cheaper electricity to charge from. If you are on a flat, single-rate tariff and have no solar panels, there are no cheap hours to move your charging into, and Walteris cannot reduce your bill. If you have solar panels, Walteris can still reduce it, whatever your tariff, by charging from your own generation instead of the grid. Otherwise, to benefit you need either:
- an exchange-linked (“spot”) electricity contract that follows Nord Pool day-ahead prices, or
- a multi-rate tariff (for example day/night) that you have entered in the app.
You also need a supported vehicle or home battery, an active connection to its manufacturer’s account, for a car a charging point at the location where it is parked, and working internet connectivity for both the app and the device.
5. Your account
You need an account to use Walteris. Your sign-in details are personal to you: keep them confidential, and tell us promptly if you think anyone else has them. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
Sharing within your household. A car is usually driven by more than one person, so you may share your account with adult members of your own household. If you do, you remain responsible for how they use it and for these terms being kept — including keeping the sign-in details confidential and removing access when someone leaves your household. Do not share your account with anyone outside it.
If we reasonably believe your sign-in details have been compromised, or are being used in breach of these terms, we may disable them. We will tell you when we do, and restore access once the problem is resolved.
6. Your responsibilities
For Walteris to schedule charging correctly you must:
- give accurate information — in particular your departure times, weekly schedule, charge targets and tariff rates. Walteris plans around what you tell it;
- keep the vehicle plugged in during the hours it may charge. Walteris cannot plug the car in for you;
- keep your vehicle’s own scheduled-charging or departure-time features switched off, as they conflict with Walteris’s commands;
- maintain your vehicle or inverter manufacturer connection, and any connectivity subscription your manufacturer requires;
- only connect a vehicle or battery you own or are authorised to control, and tell anyone else who drives it that Walteris reads the car’s charging state and whether it is at home;
- keep your account secure, as set out in section 5.
If the information you give us is wrong or out of date, or the car is not plugged in, Walteris may not charge your vehicle or battery as you expected. We are not responsible for the consequences of that.
7. Acceptable use
Walteris sends commands to a physical car over shared infrastructure, so we have to be firm about this. You must not:
- use Walteris unlawfully or fraudulently, or for any unlawful purpose;
- introduce viruses or any other malicious or harmful code;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, to any account other than your own, or to the servers and networks Walteris runs on, or to bypass any security measure;
- run vulnerability scans, load tests or penetration tests against our systems without our prior written permission. We would rather be asked than surprised — report a security problem to hello@walteris.com and we will work with you on it;
- scrape, crawl or otherwise harvest data by automated means, or attempt to read or interfere with the traffic between the app and our servers;
- place an unreasonable load on the service, or use it in a way that degrades it for other people;
- resell, sublicense, rent or otherwise make Walteris available to anyone outside your household.
If you break these rules we may suspend or end your access under section 18.
8. Subscription and payment
Walteris is a subscription priced per connected device: EUR 2.99 per month for one device — a car or a home battery — and EUR 4.99 per month if you connect both a car and a home battery. As things stand today an account manages one car, and home-battery support is being rolled out, so the two-device price applies once a battery is connected alongside the car. Creating an account is free, and without a subscription you can still open the app, explore it and try the demonstration. What a subscription buys is the service itself: connecting a device requires one, and without one the service does not manage a real vehicle or battery. If a subscription ends while a device is connected we stop managing it, hand control of it back to you, and tell you so in the app.
New subscribers get one month free. Nothing is charged for the first month. When it ends the subscription renews automatically at the price above for what you have connected, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the month is up. The free month is offered once per Apple Account: if you have had it before, subscribing charges you straight away, and the App Store tells you which applies before you confirm.
The price shown in the App Store at the moment you subscribe is the one that applies, and may differ slightly between countries because of local taxes.
Launch offer: a free year for an interview. While this offer is open, we may invite you during your free month to a short interview about how Walteris has worked for you. If you take part, we give you a code, issued by Apple, that makes the next year of your subscription free. The offer is for new subscribers while it is open, one per Apple Account. The code has no cash value, cannot be transferred or exchanged, and must be redeemed in the App Store within the period stated when it is sent. We may close the offer to new participants at any time by updating these terms; that never affects a code already issued. Taking part is entirely optional and has no effect on the service you receive.
Apple is the seller. Subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store, and Apple Distribution International Ltd. is the merchant of record. Payment is taken by Apple and charged to your Apple Account.
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Cancel at any time in your Apple Account subscription settings — not by deleting the app, which does not cancel anything. Cancelling stops future renewals; the subscription runs to the end of the period you have paid for.
Refunds and withdrawal. The service contract is with us; the sale is with Apple. As a consumer in the European Union you have 14 days from purchase to withdraw, and because Apple is the seller that right is exercised through Apple and under Apple’s terms — we cannot issue App Store refunds ourselves. Contact Apple Support, and tell us as well if something we did caused the problem, so we can fix it.
9. Price changes
We may change the subscription price. Any change is made through the App Store, and Apple notifies you in advance. Depending on the size of the change and how recently the price last changed, Apple will either notify you or ask you to confirm the new price; if confirmation is required and you do not give it, your subscription simply ends at the close of your current billing period rather than renewing. A price change never applies to a period you have already paid for.
10. Savings estimates
Where Walteris shows you estimated savings, they are an indication of what moving your charging into cheaper hours appears to have been worth, based on electricity prices and the tariff details you give us. They are worked out by us from what our own service records — they are not meter readings — and how we work them out may change as the product develops. A saving shown for a charge is a like-for-like comparison over the same amount of energy: what that charge cost, against what the same energy would have cost had the car begun charging at full power as soon as it was plugged in at home. Only the cost of the electricity is counted — not your subscription, and not the cost of any equipment. For a charge still in progress, the figure includes what the plan expects to happen.
Charging control is only one input into what you pay for electricity. Your tariff, your supplier’s charges, your car and its battery, the weather, how much you drive and the rest of your household’s consumption all move the total, and none of them is ours to control. The subscription price reflects that.
These figures are estimates for guidance only. We do not guarantee that they are accurate, and we accept no liability for any difference between an estimated saving and the amount on your electricity bill. Your bill is issued by your electricity supplier and is the authoritative record of what you paid.
11. When charging does not go to plan
Walteris controls a physical object over the internet, through systems we do not own. Sometimes a charge will not happen as intended. Causes include your car or inverter being offline or asleep, the manufacturer’s interface being unavailable or rejecting a command, loss of connectivity at your home or on the vehicle, changes to the vehicle’s own settings, a power or charging-equipment fault, market price data being unavailable, or a fault in our own service.
We therefore do not guarantee that your vehicle or battery will reach any particular charge level by any particular time. If you have a journey that matters, check the car’s charge level before you rely on it, and charge it directly if in doubt.
You can suspend Walteris at any time in the app, and charging your car manually always overrides it — if you start a charge yourself, Walteris detects this and steps back.
12. Third-party services
Walteris depends on services provided by others: your vehicle or inverter manufacturer’s interface, electricity market data, weather forecasts, and the app stores. We do not control these and do not guarantee their availability, accuracy or continued existence.
If a provider changes, restricts, degrades or withdraws its interface, Walteris’s functionality may be reduced or a feature, vehicle or battery may stop being supported. We will tell you if this affects you materially, and you may cancel your subscription. Beyond that, we are not liable for a third party’s decisions about its own service.
Your relationship with your vehicle or inverter manufacturer is governed by their terms and their privacy policy, not ours, and you must comply with them when you use Walteris with your car or battery. Walteris is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any vehicle or inverter manufacturer.
The data we read from your vehicle or battery is used only to provide Walteris to you, as the Privacy Policy describes. We do not pass it to anyone else for their own purposes, and we do not use it to build a profile of you for any other purpose.
The app and our website may link to sites we do not run. We have not checked them, and we are not responsible for their content or for how they handle your data.
13. The app on your device
Updates. We update the app from time to time — to fix faults, improve it, keep up with changes to the operating system, or close a security problem — and your device may install those updates automatically. Because Walteris sends commands to a car, running an out-of-date version can produce the wrong behaviour, so if you turn automatic updates off and decline an update you may not be able to keep using Walteris.
Devices. We aim to keep Walteris working across a broad range of devices and iOS versions, but we cannot promise it will run on any particular device, or on an operating system version we no longer support.
If the phone is not yours, you need the owner’s permission to install Walteris on it, and you remain responsible for complying with these terms either way.
14. Availability and changes to the service
We aim to keep Walteris running continuously but do not promise uninterrupted availability. We may suspend it for maintenance, updates or security, normally with notice where the interruption is significant.
We may add, change or remove features. Where a change would significantly and negatively affect your ability to use Walteris, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance and you may end your subscription free of charge before it takes effect — unless we can offer you the choice of keeping the service unchanged at no extra cost. If we discontinue Walteris entirely we will give you reasonable notice, and you can seek a refund of any unused paid period through Apple.
From time to time we may let you try something early, as a preview or trial. A feature offered that way is not part of the service you subscribe to, comes with no promises at all, and may be withdrawn at any time.
15. Warranties and liability
Walteris is provided as-is and as-available. Beyond what the law requires, we make no warranties of any kind about the service, including that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or will produce any particular saving.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited under Lithuanian or EU consumer law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law:
- our total liability for any single claim is limited to EUR 5,000;
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of opportunity, or loss of data;
- we are not liable for electricity costs you incur, for a charge that did not happen or happened at a higher price than expected, or for a journey you could not make, except where this results from our own failure to exercise reasonable care;
- we are not liable for damage to your vehicle, its battery, your home battery or your charging equipment arising from their normal operation under commands within the limits the vehicle and equipment themselves accept;
- we are not liable for consequences of inaccurate information you provided, or of settings you changed yourself;
- we are not liable for a loss you could reasonably have avoided — for example by installing a free update we offered you, or by checking your car’s charge level before a journey that mattered.
Your statutory remedies stand. If Walteris does not conform to this agreement, the remedies the law gives you as a consumer — to have it brought into conformity, to a proportionate price reduction, or to end the contract — are not limited by anything above.
Do not rely on Walteris for any life-safety or time-critical purpose. It is a cost optimisation tool, not a guaranteed charging service.
16. Your data
How we handle your personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of this agreement. In short: we do not sell your data; the app never asks your phone for your location, and the one thing we do ask your car — is it parked at home, so that we leave a charge elsewhere alone — is kept as a yes or no with no record of where you have been; you can delete everything from the app, and ask us by email for a copy of it.
17. Intellectual property
Walteris, including the app, its design and the underlying software and models, belongs to us and is protected by intellectual property law. These terms grant you a licence to use it, nothing more. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell or redistribute any part of it, or use it to build a competing service, except where the law expressly allows.
The charging data relating to your own vehicle is yours; we use it only as set out in the Privacy Policy.
18. Termination
You may stop using Walteris at any time: cancel your subscription through Apple, and delete your account in Settings if you also want your data erased. Deleting your account revokes our access to your vehicle or battery.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service. Except in cases of serious breach, we will give reasonable notice. If we terminate without cause, you may seek a pro-rata refund of any unused period through Apple.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms — for example when the service changes or the law does. If a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will tell you in the app or by email. Minor changes that do not affect you materially may be made without notice. The version and date at the top always tell you which version applies. If you do not accept a material change, you may cancel your subscription.
20. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Lithuania. Disputes may be brought before the Lithuanian courts. If you are a consumer resident in another EU country, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country and may bring proceedings there.
Please contact us first at hello@walteris.com — most problems are quicker to solve directly. Consumers in Lithuania may also apply to the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority (Valstybinė vartotojų teisių apsaugos tarnyba, vvtat.lt). Consumers elsewhere in the EU can find their national body through the European Consumer Centres Network.
21. Apple App Store terms
The following apply to the iOS app and are required by Apple:
- This agreement is between you and us only. Apple is not a party to it and is not responsible for the app or its content.
- The licence granted in section 3 is limited to use on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service.
- We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app, for any maintenance and support, and for addressing any claim that the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty. If it does not conform, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for any claim that the app or your use of it infringes a third party’s intellectual property rights, and for any claim relating to product liability, legal or regulatory non-compliance, or consumer protection law.
- You must comply with any third-party terms that apply when you use the app — in particular your vehicle manufacturer’s terms for the connection Walteris uses.
- You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a terrorist-supporting country, and are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
22. General
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about Walteris, and replace anything said or written beforehand. This does not affect any right you have in respect of something we told you that was untrue.
If any provision is found invalid, the rest remains in force. Our not enforcing a right does not waive it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent; we may transfer ours if our business is transferred, without reducing your rights.
